You try to hide it, behind the mask that you so expertly wear
Your eyes betray your secret though, telling of the darkness that consumes
Your lips tell one story, with words that flow like honey
But your voice cracks on the syllables, letting emotion escape with only the slightest sound
Your heart yearns for paradise, but instead feels cold as ice
You want so much to say you are ok, but screams from inside drown out the reassurance
I see the tears you blink away, I hear you crying even throughout the day
I want to hold you and make it better
To let you know that you are secure
That you can and will endure
I wish you understood what I see when I look at you
I wish you knew all that you can be
I wish I could give the world to you
I wish your pain would disappear
I wish you knew that Christ is near
I wish you would reach out for an embrace
I wish you would seek out again your Savior’s face
I wish you could see all that He has for you to be.
