Head bowed
Eyes looking down
Heart screaming
Thoughts rampant
She wants to cry
Wants to beat against the walls
Wants to hear her voice echoing back with the memories of her tears
She wants to give in
She wants to give up
She wants to be alone
She wants to seek shelter
She wants comfort
She wants to let go
To forget all she has been taught
For once she wants to bring everything out
Laying it all bare before her at His feet
She wants to give her pain a name
And she wants to understand
She wants to cry
But instead she lifts her gaze
Sets her face
Wraps back up her heart
Puts all emotion away again
And tells Him maybe next time
She goes back to work
Back to service
Back to being the strength they know her as
She carries herself tall
Her back straight
Shoulders broad
And eyes forward
She goes back to protect
And forgoes her own fight once more
Someday the time will come
When He will let her break
Coming to Him weary and tired
He will let her rest
But until then,
She does her job
Fulfills her duty
And holds on
Until that day comes
She chokes back the tears
And answers the call once more
Serving the Lord that she loves but at times she can’t feel.
