a slow smile
spreading across her freckled face
ear to ear stretching
her hands held high
she gives a joyous sigh
her cool laughter
admonishing the darkness of night
spinning around and around
bringing forth her own special light

then catching her eye
with a shiny lie
her hands falling down
she jumps at every sound
her once brillant glow
now barely a spark
as she is introduced to pain,
as she is pierced through the heart

her screams ring out
but silence drowns out her shout
until softly she listens
as on her cheeks
the tears do glisten
she hears a familar voice
one that offered her a chance
reminding her of who she is
of where she can choose to live
turning from the dark, she responds with a bow
she knows the time is now

facing a King
without even left a meager offering
soon He begins to speak
giving her the words of love
that her heart did seek,

" you are my daughter
you are my child
there is no reason to sit here
broken, meek, mild
you are my girl
you are a princess
and you, my dear
will always be blessed."
